MONROVIA, Liberia – On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Top Up Care, an innovative healthcare technology startup, officially launched a groundbreaking pilot project in collaboration with the USAID-funded FIxed Amount Award for Health Management (FHM) Activity, implemented by Chemonics International. This partnership marks a significant milestone in Liberia’s healthcare landscape, bringing advanced digital healthcare solutions to local healthcare service providers, focusing on improving clinical care and expanding access to specialty consultations through Top Up Care’s proprietary eConsult platform.
The pilot will evaluate the operations and quality of care at 8 clinics. Selected healthcare service providers will gain access to Top Up Care’s cutting-edge platform— a service that connects local healthcare providers with international specialists for clinical guidance.
“We are excited to work with the USAID FHM Activity and Chemonics to collaborate with healthcare service providers in Monrovia. Our goal is to help these healthcare service providers better integrate advanced digital solutions and elevate their quality of care while increasing access to vital specialists’ expert opinions. We believe that this partnership will have a transformative impact on the healthcare system here in Liberia,” said Mwenda Kazadi, Co-Founder and COO of Top Up Care.
Transforming Healthcare Through Technology
Top Up Care’s innovative platform provides healthcare service providers with tools that streamline operations and enhance patient care. Their care coordination platform allows general practitioners at participating clinics to submit clinical queries, accompanied by images and lab results, to a panel of US and Canadian-based specialists covering multiple fields, including obstetrics, general surgery, dermatology, gastroenterology, and more.
The USAID FHM Activity will benefit from access to Top Up Care’s comprehensive clinic evaluation framework, helping them to identify and address gaps within their targeted healthcare service providers, mitigate investment risks, and enhance overall clinic management. This collaboration will also contribute to the USAID FHM Activity’s broader mission of strengthening health systems in Liberia.
A Shared Vision for Impact
The shared objectives of the Top Up Care-USAID FHM Activity partnership include:
- Conducting detailed assessments of over ten healthcare service providers in Monrovia.
- Identifying high-risk areas that need system strengthening.
- Transforming selected clinics through technology-driven commercial partnerships.
- Enhancing the healthcare service providers’ operational capacity to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
